Maria de la Salut (Center)
Maria de la Salut is a municipality located in the centre of the island, in the Pla de Mallorca region. The land in the area is mainly used for almond, carob, melon, garlic and tomato plantations. The "ramallet" tomato is one of its star products and has its own local festival. Maria de la Salut has an authentic, rural atmosphere, with deep-rooted traditions and beautiful views of the countryside. Cycling and hiking are the most popular sports in the area, although the bay of Alcudia, where many water sports are available, is close by. The parish church of the village preserves a beautiful and very old image of the Virgen de la Salud, apparently already known in the time dominated by the Saracens.
