The beautiful little village of Puigpunyent is situated in the western interior of the island. Due to its location on the eastern slope of the Tramuntana mountain range, it is mainly visited by hikers or mountain bikers. According to the locals, the name of the village comes from the Latin expression "pondinum pungentem", which loosely translated means "pointed mountain". This name is not unreasonable, as the Puig de Galatzó, which at 1,035 m offers a breathtaking view of the whole island, is located in the immediate vicinity. One of the main features is the nature reserve La Reserva Puig de Galatzó and its holm oak forest, where you will find refreshing waterfalls along the path and discover many endemic plants and animals.
