The small, traditional village of Sineu is located right in the centre of the island. It is the ideal place for those looking to unwind, enjoy the tranquillity and learn about some of Mallorca's cultural and religious history. There are just under 4000 inhabitants and few signs of tourism here, you will find only a couple of simple hotels, cafes and an art gallery. Another highlight of Sineu is the 16th century church of Santa Maria, whose exterior façade resembles a fortress. Inside, its light-coloured walls make a very soothing impression on the visitor. It is also worth a simple stroll through the small, winding streets that give the town a harmonious atmosphere. Sineu's traditional weekly market is a popular event for locals and travellers alike.
